| 5 injured as tractor plunges into river | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 19: 5 persons today sustained injuries when a tractor they were traveling upon plunged into a deep river gorge in the Maira area about 5 km away from district Rajouri headquarter. As per reports a tractor bearing registration number Jk 11- 0709 was on its way from Rajouri town to Maira Kotedhara area when suddenly driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into a several hundred deep gorge and fell into the river. Soon as the information of accident reached in the near by areas a large number of locals rushed to the spot for rescue while after some time police party also reached there and will the collective efforts of police and locals the injured were brought out of the gorge and were shifted to district hospital Rajouri. All these injured are reported to have sustained multiple injuries and are being treated in district hospital. These have been identified as Arnav Kumar s/o Amreek Kumar r/o Maira, Sham Lal, Yugvir Singh, Pritam Singh s/o Sunder Singh and Ramesh Chander. Some locals who were present on the spot of the accident talking with this journalist said that on the same position several times road accidents have occurred resulting into toll of life and many times concerned agencies have been appealed to install road safety bands in this position but no one has paid attention towards this. They also demanded immediate installation of road safety bands on this part of Khandli Maira road to prevent any accident in future. |
