BJP, NPP protest, stage walk-out against lease out of PoK parts to China by Pakistan

Jammu, Mar 20: Main opposition parties of Jammu region Tuesday protested against the reported leasing out of parts of Gilgit and Baltistan by Pakistan to China. Soon after the House met here today opposition BJP, JKNPP and Jammu State Morcha (JSM) strongly protested leasing out of parts Gilgit and Baltistan in PoK by Pakistan to China and demanded a statement from the state government as to whether it was going to take up this issue with the central government.
Though the principal opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other legislators including M Y Tarigami, Hakim Muhammad Yasin, and members from ruling coalition were on legs demanding immediate assessment of losses on account of the gusty winds that stormed the valley last night, the BJP, JKNPP legislators amid din wanted to know if the state government was going to take up the issue of leasing out of PoK land to China by Pakistan with the central government. Jugal Kishore, Ashoke Khajuria, Balwant Singh Manmkotia and Ashwina Kumar while marching towards the front row amid anti-Pakistan slogans demanded that the state government should come out with a statement as to whether it was going to protest against hegemonic attitude of Pakistan. The agitating MLAs were soon joined by Harshdev Singh and the rest of the BJP, NPP MlAs barring professor Chaman Lal Gupta and marched towards the well of the House. Harshdev was loudly calling the attention of the House towards the issue saying that the constitution of India and the Territorial integrity of the country of supreme, PoK is constitutionally part of the country and Pakistan cannot leas out parts of it to China. " Gilgit and Baltistan belong to India and are part of the Jammu and Kashmir state, Pakistan cannot lease it out to China" Harshdev Singh. He expressed concern over the alleged increasing presence of China in these areas and sought a reply from the government.
Asserting the Centre should take measures in this regard, Harsh demanded that POK should be liberated and taken back as per a resolution in the Parliament that POK and other areas are parts of India.
On the other hand Ashoke Khajuria was shouting slogans demanding that PoK should be liberated from Pakistan.
Referring to media reports, Jugal Kishore claimed that China was using the land in these areas and Pakistan had leased out some parts to China to keep a tab on the activities of India. The BJP leader accused the state government of remaining silent on the issue. During their protests the House witnessed uproarious scenes after the Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla said it was an issue concerning the Union Home Ministry. The members later staged a walkout from the House over the issue.
