3 army jawans killed, 2 hurt in Gypsy-tanker collision | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 20: In a tragic incident, three army jawans were killed and two others wounded after their Maruti Gypsy collided head-on with an oil tanker on the national highway near army TCP at Bantalab, Nagrota, here today.Police sources said an army Gypsy collided head-on with an oil tanker (JK14C/0230) near army TCB at Bantalab, resulting in the instant death of three jawans and injuries to two others.The ill-fated Gypsy was on its way from Poonch to corps headquarters at Nagrota. Soon after the mishap, police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a civil hospital where three of them were declared brought dead by doctors.The dead were identified as Gypsy driver (Lance Naik) Angrez Singh of 39 RR, Havaldar Ranveer Singh of 18 GL and K Pandu Ranga of 966 TPT. The injured included Lance Naik Tanveer Hussain and Talib Hussain of 156 TA Bn. They were later referred to army hospital at Satwari where their condition was stated to be serious.Sources said a hunt was on to nab the tanker driver who fled the spot soon after the incident. A case was registered against him at Nagrota police station. |
