| 3rd Anniversary of J&K RTI Act marked at Budgam | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 20: In order to commemorate 3rd year of enactment of J&K RTI Act 2009 a seminar titled " 3 years of RTI in J&K Achievements & Challenges " was organized by J&K RTI Movement, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative in association with District Administration Budgam at Sheikh ul Aalam Hall Budgam.
The State Information Commissioner Nazir Ahmad was the chief guest on this occasion and Deputy Commissioner Budgam Mohammad Rafi was the guest of honour. Speaking at the programme the State Information Commissioner Nazir Ahmad hailed the activities undertaken by J&K RTI Movement in creating RTI awareness in J&K. He urged upon Govt officials to abide by RTI Act. Deputy Commissioner Budgam Mohammad Rafi said RTI is a tool for transparency and said Budgam is the only district in J&K which has the credit of being most informed district with regard to RTI Act. He said the activists of J&K RTI Movement have made this possible. Dr Sheikh Ghulam Rasool Co Founder of J&K RTI Movement gave a detailed presentation of J&K RTI Act 2009. Among others who spoke on the occasion included Additional District Development Commissioner Budgam Mohammad Akbar , IAS Probationer Dr Shah Faesal , Senior Journalist Ahmad Ali Fayyaz , Mohammad Ramzan Khan Secretary J&K RTI Movement. Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat Convener J&K RTI Movement congratulated the activists of J&K RTI Movement for organizing the seminar. Dr Muzaffar could not be present on the occasion as he was out of state. |
