| Sourav, Ritika excel in Oriental Sport Climbing | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 20: Sourav Singh Jamwal and Ritika Gupta won the sub- junior boys and sub-junior girls titles respectively in the 3rd Oriental Academy Higher Secondary School Sport Climbing Championship held at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in the Sprawling Buds School, Chinore in Bantalab, near here today. However, in the junior boys category seven climbers topped the wall and a super final was held wherein four climbers again topped the wall and all were declared winners.
In all, 45 students of Oriental Academy participated in the competition which was organized under the supervision of Sonam Sidharth, an executive member of J&K State Sport Climbing Committee and Shivani Raj Kaith, a national champion in sport climbing.
Shawetica Khajuria was the sole Judge of the competition who was assisted by Mrigank Koushal and Ria Gupta, both aspirant judges. Suraj Singh Plathia, Anil Kumar and Puneet Sharma, all national climbers were the route setters cum belayers of the competition. Secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K, Ram Khajuria was chief guest. Prominent among others present included Rahul Sharma and Arti Sharma, Directors of host Sprawling Buds School and sports officer of Oriental Academy, Bhumesh Kumar. This second one day coaching cum competition in sport climbing for individual schools, organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K to spot the talent at the grass root level which shall be groomed properly for future competitions. The first such competition was conducted for the students of Sprawling Buds School, Jammu. The Detailed Results: Sub-junior boys: Sourav Singh Jamwal, Ist; Tarun Sharma, 2nd and Ayush Kumar and Vikas Kumar, joint 3rd. Sub-junior girls: Ritika Gupta, Ist; Parijha Sharma, 2nd and Kriti Gupta, 3rd. Junior boys: Abhishek Slathia, Sheryaar Salaria, Sanjot Singh and Aditya Sharma, all winners. |
