Chenab Challenge- River Rafting Championship concludes

REASI, Mar 22: The 3-day Chenab Challenge- River Rafting Championship organized by Tourism Department concluded here today.
The Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawnag Rigzin Jora who was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony flagged off 150m long Sprint Rafting Event at Baradari Reasi Bridge.
Among other, District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Sheetal Nanda, SSP, Atul Goel, Director Tourism, Robin Singh Mehta, Consultant Tourism and Culture, K.A Qadri, officer of other departments, sports lover and prominent people were present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Government has taken several steps for exploration of new tourism destinations and conservation the cultural heritage for the growth of tourism in the state.
He said that the main motive to organize such water rafting event in the area is to diversified maximum pilgrim tourists visiting to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Shiv Khori Shrines to this area which would help to uplift and strengthen the tourism infrastructure in the region for socio-economic improvement of the District.
Jora said that tourism is one of the fast growing sector in the country and people must come forward particularly unemployed youth of the State to avail benefits of various schemes and opt tourism sector as a carrier prospective. For this purpose the Minister said, the Tourism Department is organize camps in order to train the locals and acquaint them about various tourisms related activities so that they could made themselves self employed by opting tourism sector.
Indian Army Blue clinched both Trophies of Marathon and Sprint rafting events. Trophies and certificates were also distributed among the participants and winners of both Marathon and Sprint rafting events by the chief guest.
A composite and colorful cultural programme was also presented by the Performers Group Art and Culture Jammu which mesmerized the audience on the occasion.
Later, the Minister also visited Bhim Ghar Fort Reasi and inspected the ongoing restoration work.
He issued instructions to the concerned officer and asked them to speed up the construction work for its early completion.
