20-30 ultras active in Rajouri, Poonch: GOC Singh | | | early times report Rajouri, Mar 22 : 25 Infantry Division GOC, Maj Gen K H Singh today said 20 to 30 militants were active in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Talking to local scribes on the sidelines of a function inside the division headquarters here, he also gave important information about the number of militant training camps across the LoC. "Security forces have maintained a strong grip over the terrorist infrastructre and militancy has been reduced to a larger extent. It is the result of hardwork of security forces, strong intelligence network and good cooperation between security agencies and locals that only 20-30 militants are present in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch", GOC Singh said.Quoting specific intelligence inputs, he said 200 to 300 militants were ready to infiltrate into Indian territory from across the LoC. He, however, said that a tight vigil was being maintained on the borders to foil any infiltration bid militants. The GOC also agreed to the presence of women terrorists. Reports suggested that women terrorists were getting trained, or had been trained to indulge in acts of terrorism. He said there were about 8-10 militant training camps on that side of the border close to the LoC. |
