| Jewelers protest over tax hike in recent Budget | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 22: Continuing with their ongoing agitation, the Jammu jewellers today staged protest over hiked tax in gold related business in the recent Budget. Shouting anti-government slogans, the jewelers this morning under the banner of 'Jammu and Kashmir Swarnkar Sangh' (Jewelers Association) demonstrated at Chowk Chabutra against hike in tax on manufacturing, selling, purchasing of gold items.
"The jewelers are already facing crisis and the Central government instead of relaxing them, hiked tax in the recently announced budget," one of the members of the jewelers association said. He however, demanded that that the government should take immediate steps to relax the jewelers. The jewelers in this winter capital are observing complete shut down for the past five days in protest against Budget announced by Finance Minister Pranab Mukheerjee on March 16. |
