Harsh takes exception of use of word 'Kashmir Govt.' in replies of Industries Deptt | | | Early Times Report Jammu Mar 22: Harsh Dev Singh NPP MLA and Leader of Panthers Legislature Party today took strong exception to the use of word "Kashmir Govt." in the written replies made available by Industries Deptt in response to cut motions moved in the House. Objecting to the use of word 'Kashmir Govt' instead of 'Jammu and Kashmir Govt', Harsh Dev Singh said that it needed to be explained if there existed a separate govt. for Kashmir. He said the phraseology used in the Assembly Reply was indicative of highly prejudicial, offensive and parochial mind set of rulers who had sought to eclipse the very identity and existence of Dogra land. Harsh Dev Sing further said that the current episode indicated that the govt. was not only discriminating in the matter of devolution of funds and in employment opportunities but had also declined to respect the identity of the Jammu region and sentiments of its people. He said that the people of the two regions of state wanted to live like brothers with equal rights but the vested political interest were always devising ways and mean to create wedge between them by their evil mechanizations. Hash mentioned that while replying a question regarding the locations of Govt sponsored Handicrafts centres opened outside the State, the statement govt in its written reply said that 'Kashmir govt.' has provided Arts emporiums at Chand igarh, Jaipur, Goa, Mumbai, Lucknow, New Delhi, Kolkatta besides four others locations. Taking serious note of repeated humiliation caused to Jammuites, Harsh Dev Singh said that coalition govt. had always shown disrespect for sentiments of Dogra Land people. He said that even the Govt. services were named KAS, KCS, and KPS rather than JKAS, JKCS, and JKPS. Harsh who was speaking in the Legislative Assembly on "Demand for Grants" for industries further pointed out the elements of regional bias in the allocation of funds. He said that merge amount had been allocated for Jammu region in the matter of rehabilitation of sack Industrial units of Jammu. He also called for compensating the Jammu region under PM's employment Package for Industries and demanded early opening of additional Industrial Estates in Jammu region including Tajur (Majalta) announced and assured repeatedly by the govt. He said govt. should encourage local artifacts, Handicrafts and Handl ooms and ensure due promotion of Pashmina shawls, silk products, Basholi paintings besides local hand made products of Small scale Industry. Singh further called upon the govt. to ensure that the big Corporate Houses and Industries established in various Parts of State including Samba, Vijaypur, Bari Brah mana etc. provide 90% of the total employment to locals in conformity with agreement reached with them under the Industrial Policy of 2004. He called for due redressal of grievances of Kala Kot coal mine workers. |
