Early Times Report
Jammu Mar 22: The Kishtwar police have produced challan in the murder case of SPO Mohammad Hanief of Doda who was killed on December 8 last year in Palmar area of Kishtwar.
The conspiracy to kill him was hatched by one surrendered militant and two former LeT militants.
After committing the crime, the accused had fled away from the spot along with the SPO's AK rifle and ammunition. One of the accused, Mohammad Rafi (surrendered militant), son of Abdul Rashid of Sarthala, had taken the SPO, after becoming his source, to Suzna Palmar forests to eliminate Mohammad Amin Butt alias Jahangir, a self-styled divisional commander of HM.
Trusting his source, Hanief, after taking his seniors into confidence, had proceeded towards Kishtwar along with four police officials. As part of the conspiracy, Rafi asked the SPO to keep his operation party
at Thathri and then himself proceeded with him towards Suzna Palmar.Reaching Suzna Palmar, Rafi's accomplices and ex-LeT militants Shahnawaz alias Bilal and Nafeez Manawar received them.
On December 9 morning when the SPO waited to kill HM divisional commander Jehangir by hiding himself behind a rock, Rafi, Bilal, Nafeez and Basharat, a 12th class student of Kathua, shot him dead.
The dead body was spotted there in the evening by some locals who had informed police which then registered a case under sections 302, 382 and 34 of RPC.
While Nafeez and Basharat were later arrested by police, Rafi and Bilal who had joined the militant ranks were neutralised in Banzwara forests by police. From their possession, the SPO's weapon, ID card and a Chinese pistol were recovered. After completing inquiry into the case, police today presented challan in the court of chief judicial magistrate, Kishtwar.
