Financial crunch leaves over 16000 pension cases pending

Jammu, Mar 22: A large number of pension cases are pending in Jammu district due to paucity of funds stated the government in a written reply during today's proceedings of the legislature. Minister incharge Social Welfare Department on Thursday informed the members in the form of written reply that a total number of 16839 pension cases are pending in Jammu district and out of which 1001 pension cases are pending in Nagrota constituency alone. The minister informed the lower house in response to the question submitted by BJP MLA Jugal Kishore that as and when the funds are made available with the department the pending cases shall be cleared. According to the written reply in Jammu division 205173 pension cases have been sanctioned under different schemes , out of which 8485 pension cases have been weeded out and 7337 pension cases have been adjusted against the weedout cases.In Nagrota constituency 162 pension cases have been weeded out against which 119 new cases have been adjusted in the said constituency.
