Two young artists of Natrang awarded National Scholarships in Theatre

Jammu, 23 Mar : The Ministry of Culture,Government of India has awarded National scholarships to two young artists of Natrang, viz., Gopi Sharma and Kritika Bhau to undergo training in theatre Acting under Natrang Director Balwant Thakur. This prestigious Nationala ward carries Rupees 12,600/- per annum which they will continue to receive till they attain the age of 20. This has happened for the first time that children from the State of Jammu & Kashmir have excelled to this level andhave been awarded scholarships in the field of Acting in theatre. Gopi Sharma S/O Jyotiand Ashwani Sharma is a student of 6th class in the Army School, Nagrota is a product of Natrang's Children Theatre Camps and have beendoing lead role in most of the children plays of Natrang. His popular playsinclude Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai, Beauty is a beast, Gifty and Kichidi. Gopi Sharma outshined in these plays and performed remarkably well which made him to reach to this National recognition at such a young age. Kritika Bhau D/O of Ramaand Amar Kuldeep Singh Bhau is a student of 9th class of Maharaja Hari Singh ACS, Nagbani and has been associated with Natrang sincelast five years and has been performing regularly in Natrang's children plays. Her lead performance in the plays Andher Nagri Chopat Raja, Kichdi, and Main Aisa Kayon, Main Vaisa Kayon, placed her among the top ranking young performers and she easily qualified the National Scholarship.
The prouds of J&K,Gopi Sharma and Kritika Bhau have been trained by Sumeet Sharma who heads thechildren and youth wing of Natrang and conducts all children theatre camps of Natrang. Natrang director Balwant Thakur comp-limented both Gopi Sharma and Kritika Bhau for bringing laurels forthe state of Jammu & Kashmir. He also appreciated their parents forencou-raging them to excel in the field of theatre acting and expressed hopethat both of them will not only make a name for themselves but for the state ofJ&K as well at National and International level in the world of theatre.
