Brahmin community demand restriction in membership | | | early times report Jammu, 23 Mar : A large number members of Brahmin community have assailed the tactics of the incumbent leadership of Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha, Jammu, to restrict the membership of the Sabha, being held, for holding next general elections of the president and office bearers of the Sabha. In a joint statement issued here today representatives of various organisations of Brahmin community, particularly from the far off areas in Jammu region have complained non supply of membership forms copies to the units in districts and tehsils, outside Jammu city are not being issued. They have added that the community members coming from places like Poonch, Rajouri, Badhirwa, Kishtwar and Ramban etc. are being issued only one copy each containing 25 forms. Since they cannot visit Jammu again and again to collect the membership form copies, they suspect malafide intention on the part of the committee, to deny the community members from these places to enrol themselves as members of the Sabha. They have demanded that the membership copies be issued liberally to all the desirous community members who want to enroll the members. The Sabha office bearers should send the copies to the district and tehsil headquarters for enrolment of a maximum number of community members. They have further stated that the last date for enrolment is fixed for 31st March this year, but copies of membership forms are not issued to them. The signatories to the statement are Satish Sharma President Jammu Provincial Progressive Brahmin Sabha, Sohan Lal Sharma District President Progressive Brahmin Sabha Rajouri, Manoj Kumar Sharma District President Progressive Brahmin Sabha Ponch, Sunil Upadhaya President Youth Brahmin Sabha district Riasi, Rampal Dubay District President Dihati Brahmin Sabha Udhampur. |
