Abdul Gani Malik inaugurates national conference at MIER | | | early times report Jammu, 23 Mar : Abdul Gani Malik, Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, J&K State inaugurated a two day UGC sponsored National Conference on "Transforming Teacher Education: Issues, Practices and Assessment" organized by MIER College of Education . Professor Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor of University of Jammu was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Chairman MIER Group of institutions extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and hoped that the deliberations will be fruitful and provide a unique platform for academicians, researchers, policy makers and professionals to discuss the vital issues related to teacher education. Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER, gave the introductory remarks to the Conference and stressed that teacher education system is at crossroads at present and the conference is a timely and significant event. About100 participants drawn from J&K state and other states of India are participating in the conference which is distributed into six technical sessions . In his inaugural address, the Minister for Higher Education, Adul Gani Malik greatly appreciated the efforts made by MIER in contributing to the advancement of the standards of education in the state. He stressed upon the need to device policies and recommendations which are practically implementable. He also released the second issue of MIER Journal of Educational studies, trends and practices. Addressed the august gathering, Prof. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar remarked that the role of private sector institutions is very significant and relevant. In his keynote address, Prof. Kothari said that in reality, teacher education is the very sine qua non of all educational improvements. Principals of various colleges of Jammu and neighbouring states Punjab, Haryana and H.P. attended the inaugural function and shall be presenting papers in the next two days. Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER formally thanked the distinguished guests, the delegates and the participants who have shown such great enthusiasm and interest in participating in large numbers. |
