Institution of Engineers celebrates World Water Day | | | early times report Jammu, 23 Mar : The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu local centre celebrated "World Water Day" at Institutional Complex, Channi Himmat, here by holding a seminar on topic "Water and Food Security". The seminar was attended by a large number of engineers from various departments and organizations. The seminar was chaired by H. B. Khajuria, former Chief Engineer, I&FC Department, Prof. O. N. Wakhlu, FIE former Principal NIT Srinagar was guest of honour. The function was presided over by Er. Braj Bhushan Sharma Chairman of The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre. Six papers on the theme topic were presented by Er. Santokh Singh, Er. S. C. Thukral, P.K. Nanda, MIE; B. L. Rawal, MIE; Ashok Kumar Sharma, MIE; and Rajesh Kumar Angural. All the speakers emphasized that water is the most important element for the national development. According to them whatever the use of fresh water, agriculture, industry, domestic use, huge saving of water and improving of water management is possible. H. B. Khajuria, while deliberating on the theme topic emphasized that water is the mother and medium of life. He advocated for framing of a comprehensive project for future water needs of J&K. Rabinder Shekher, honorary secretary conducted the proceedings of the seminar, delivered welcome address and presented vote of thanks. |
