SRINAGAR, Mar 23: Despite the ban imposed by the Jammu and Kashmir high court on the private practice of doctors, the later continue to violate the court directive by indulging in the practice. However the authorities meant to implement the ban maintain that they lack basic infrastructure to impose the blanket ban on private practice.
Reports from almost all the district headquarters of the valley said that the doctors in violation of the court ruling continue to practice at their private clinics under the nose of the law enforcement agencies.
"Hundreds of doctors could be seen practicing at their private clinics in Anantnag, Pulwama, Srinagar, Kulgam, Baramullah and other district headquarters not only on holidays but even before and after the working hours on other days as well," said an advocate Mubashir Ahmad.
He said that the government seems have completely ignored the high court ruling only to let the doctors fleece the patients.
"The high court ruling was in the interest of the poor patients who can not afford the fee doctors charge at the private clinics but the same is not being implemented by the concerned authorities," said
a Pharmacist of Srinagar, Mudasir Ahmad.
He said that it is irony that the authorities with out bothering about the pitiable condition of the poor patients give go ahead to the doctors despite court directive.
When contacted health minister, Sham Lal Sharma, said that they are reviewing the order of the double bench and will go for the implementation of the ban in a phased manner. " Though i was in favor of the blanket ban but my deputy objected to it saying the state lacks infrastructure to ban the private practice of doctors at a time,". He said that they are now reviewing the court order and will go for the ban in a phased manner. " It may still take us one or two months to implement the order after being reviewed thoroughly," minister said.
