| Madan gets credit for the project | | Jammu-Poonch rail link | | early time report
Jammu, Mar 23: The Union government has decided to take Jammu-Poonch rail link as anational project. The credit for this, according to knowledgeable sources goes toCongress MP from Jammu-Poonch constituency, Madan Lal Sharma.
Sources said Sharma hasbeen urging successive railway ministers to including the link in the nationalproject. The project is likely to be taken after opening of Udhampur-Qazigundrail link. This project (Udhampur-Qazigund) project is likely to be completedby 2014. The government has earmarked Rs 19000 Cr for the project. Pertinent to mention fundsare released on priority basis for national projects. The work, on the proposedproject, may start in 2014 itself. This vital route may be linked with Akhnoor.The entire route runs close tothe IB and the LOC. It could facilitate movement of troops during emergencies. |
