Court frames charges against 2 SBI managers, 4 others in cheating case | | | early times report JAMMU, Mar 23: Special judge anti-corruption and CBI, B L Bhat today framed charges against two SBI managers and four others in a case of cheating the bank by way of withdrawing Rs 1.17 cr through fraudulent means. The charges were framed against SBI's team leader at zonal office here and chief manager Naresh Kumar Gupta, credit analyst manager Ashok Kumar Gupta, Pritam Singh and Jaswinder Singh partner, both partners in Divya Rice Mill at Dablehar, R S Pura, revenue depart-ment's junior assistant Joginder Singh and discharged advocate K S Puri under section 120-B read with sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of RPC, 5(2) read with 5(1) (d) of PC Act 2006 and section 161 of RPC. According to the case, Pritam and Jaswinder entered into a criminal conspiracy with Ashok, Naresh and Rajinder Singh Wazir of SBI with a common object to cheat the bank. In furtherance of the conspiracy, the three bank employees misused their official position and accepted the false revenue documents prepared by Pritam and Jaswinder as genuine and recommended for sanction of loan of Rs 113.5 lakh (CC limit of Rs 80 lakh and term loan of Rs 33.5 lakh). On the basis of thier recommendation, chairman of zonal credit committee sanctioned the financial facilities. The loan facilities were misused by the mill owners for their own ends and no repayment was made to the bank as a result of which the loan turned NPA, causing undue loss to the exchequer and corresponding undue gain to the accused
