Car blast victim was a student: Police | | | early times report Srinagar, Mar 23: With the police declaring thatthe driver victim of yesterday's car bomb blast in South Kashmir had nomilitant links, the mystery may take some time to unveil. The Bijbehara SDPO, Manovjit Singh said thevictim could not be categorized as classified militant. "We have found nothingadverse against him in police records. He was a student with no militantbackground. However, we are exploring the possibility of his being a freshrecruit", he said. Singh identified the victim as 27-year-oldMohammad Abbas of Chursoo village of Pulwama district. Singh said the car that was used for the blast doesnot belong to the victim. "Investigations are on", he said. Meanwhile, a close relative of the victim saidAbbas was on his way to the hospital where he had been attending a relative forthe past few days. The aggrieved relatives could not identify the victimyesterday. However, when he failed to turn up in the hospital, the relativesvisited the morgue again and identified him.
The blast that occurred on Jammu-Srinagar highwaya few meters from Bijbehara police station caused injuries to 4 persons. The conditionof some of them is stated to be critical. |
