SoS school celebrates Republic Day

Sos Herman Gmenier School, Jammu organized a function to celebrate 57th Republic Day in the premises of the school to salute the republic of India. The chief guest in the function was Jenab Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Minister for school education, Science, & Technology, Information technology and Hajj &Aquaf (J& K).
The chief guest on their arrival hoisted the national flag. The program commenced with the march past presented by the students of four houses namely Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi and Tawi. The chief guest took the salute later; he was accorded floral welcome by Principal Mohd. Ayyub. Dharamvir Singh Jamwal (Deputy Mayor) was another guest of honour presented there.
Later the students of primary wing presented mass PT that added to glory of the occasion. The cultural program started with lighting of lamp in traditional manner by chief guest. The students presented beautiful patriotic group songs & dances. Solo dance presented by Anushka on Vande Matram enthralled the audience and infused patriotic feeling among the students.There was colorful dances like Pahari, Haryani & Dogri dances which were being appreciated by the audience and the chief guests.
Appreciating the efforts of the students and the teacher the chief guest said that he was very pleased to see the achievements made by the school in all the fields. He was very influenced by the SOS home run by school for poor children. He stressed on the schools to promote the education system in order to improve the literacy rate in J&K.
In the prize distribution function, Tawi house bagged the first prize for their performance in the march past. Second prize was given to Jhelum and third prize went to Chenab. Priyanka Pandouh of XI (Tawi House Commander) bagged first position, Kritika Sethi of Jhelum House won second & third place was bagged by Umang Pandita of Chenab House. Principal Ayyub honours the guests with special momentoes.
