| Azad doling out 'favours' from Health ministry: Sub Centres in offing | | Former CM interested in J&K assignment....? | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 24: Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has once again started giving prominence and priority to political affairs in J&K vis-a-vis the key decisions within his party which happens to be the main ally of ruling alliance government in the state. After 'granting' sub district level hospitals from the kitty of Centre in capacity of Union Health Minister, Azad is said to be set to 'dole out' more such 'favours' as such all for the welfare of the people of his home state, which may help him politically in the war of nerves and game of one up manship within his own party.
Relieable sources said apart from district level hospitals Azad is may grant favours from his own ministry to the state by way of sanctioning Health Sub Centres . The Health Sub Centres would be granted in bulk across the state , nearly 500-600 , which will go a long way in benefitting the people of the state in Health Sector as funds would be provided directly from the Centre for these sub centres for building up infrastructure and other requisite facilities for running them smoothly. Sources said even though such centres are in the pipeline of state government under various Centrally sponsored projects, by granting more such facilities , that too on war footing directly under the monitoring of the Union Health Ministry, the Health sector would get a boost.
Azad is Union Health Minister for over three years now. But he has started giving these favours lately , good enough for the welfare of the people of state. But there is purpose and sense of timing in Azad initiated measures. One that he wants to re establish rapport with the masses of his own state and convey this message that he cares for the masses and therefore is doing whatever is possible within his own ministry. The former Chief Minister in fact started this over three months back when he appointed former minister Yogesh Sawhney, considered to be one of his loyalists as OSD for facilitating the entry and treatment of patients from J&K.
Azad's next move was seen as more political in nature when he 'accommodated' yet another loyalist Jugal Kishore in Legislative Council. Two days later he announced sub district level hospitals in the state. All these, are however, for apparent reasons not received by his 'political opponents' in the state, few of them from within his own party. His adversaries are only looking at it as Azad's interest back in the state for which he is trying to make a ground gradually both at the level of establishing rapport with the masses and making political inroads in the state . Political pundits are also viewing this as Azad's assessment of the Congress in coming years and even in terms of performance in the polls. One wonders is he seriously trying to 'stage' a comeback in J&K.....? |
