Truck driver held with poppy straw at Kathua | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 24: A truck driver was today apprehended by police near fruit
market in Kathua town along with 40 kilograms of poppy straw. Police sources said during routine checking of vehicles, cops signalled a
truck (JK08B/0190) to stop for checking near fruit market in ward No 14. Sighting the cops, the driver, however, stopped the vehicle in the middle
of the road and jumped out of it in his attempt to flee. After a hot chase,
he was caught by the cops. Sources said when the cops put him to questioning to find out why he had
fled, he allegedly told them that he was carrying poppy straw in the truck. The truck was actually loaded with limestones and 40 kilograms of poppy
straw was hidden under them, the sources added. The consignment and the truck were then seized by the cops and the driver
was arrested. The accused was identified as Amarpreet Singh, son of Dewan Singh of
Sawanchak, Kathua. He was booked under relevant sections of law
