| MAM College wins T20 cricket tourney | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 25: Government MAM College today lifted the Twenty20 Cricket Tournament organised for college students by Jammu Police under Civil Action Programme by Jammu and Kashmir Police at MA Stadium, here.
In the best of two finals, MAM College trounced GGM Science College to clinch the title.
Earlier, in the first match, MAM College defeated GGM Science College by two runs. Winning the toss and batting first, Science College XI managed to score a modest total of 64 runs in the stipulated 10 overs for eight wickets.
Mayank was the top scorer with 10-ball 14 runs including three handsome boundaries. Manik Gupta took three wickets for MAM College XI, while Gulzar bagged two wickets and Ashwani claimed one.
In reply, MAM College reached the required target in just 9.1 overs, losing two wicket in the process, thus won the match by eight wickets. Manik played a magnificent innings of unbeaten 25 runs in just 19 balls including two, while Gulzar contributed 11 runs. Vijay and Davinder took one wicket each from Science College XI. For his all round display, Manik Gupta was adjudged man of the match.
Meanwhile, in another match played today, MAM College XI thrashed GGM Science College XI by two runs.
Batting first, MAM College XI posted a decent total of 81 runs in the stipulated 10 overs by losing six wickets. Manik Gupta played a fabulous innings of 26 runs in 23 balls with the help of two boundaries while VS Charak and Akash contributed 13 and nine runs to the total respectively. From Science College XI, Rohit and Mayank shared two wickets each.
Science College XI, in reply scored 79 runs, thus lost the match by a small margin of two runs. Mayank, Vikram and Rawat scored 34, 16 and 12 runs respectively. Manik Gupta was declared man of the match for superb all-round display.
Best Batsman trophy clinched by Mayank of Science College while Best Bowler and man of the tournament went to Manik gupta of MAM College. |
