3rd consecutive cricket title for Legal Stars XI
Sports Meet of Bar Association of Jammu concludes

JAMMU, March 25: Despite brilliant innings of 82 runs played by Guru Partap Singh for Paradise XI, Legal Stars XI excelled by clinching the cricket trophy for third consecutive time in the five-day annual sports meet of Bar Association of Jammu which came to an end today at University of Jammu ground, here.
Needing 60 runs off 25 deliveries to attain the goal of 177 runs, Legal Stars made it with the help of superb innings from Sanjay Bagga. Sanjay hit two sixes on consecutive deliveries to help side chase the challenging total.
Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Paraside XI set a target of 177 runs for the loss of three wickets in given 20 overs. Guru Partap made 82 runs, followed by equally good batting from Ravi Abrol, who contributed 47. Sahil Aggarwal added 27 runs to the total. From Legal Stars, Vivek took two wickets and Amit Bhardwaj bagged one.
In reply, Legal Stars achieved the goal sparing four deliveries of their innings with seven wickets intact. Though Gourav Jamwal (43) and Parnav Kohli (44) provided the side strong foundation through their slow and steady innings, still the pinching knock from Sanjay Bagga turned the game around. Sanjay made unbeaten 37 runs and AP Singh contributed 25. Another unbeaten batsman, Janu added 15 runs. Ajay Manhas and Ravi Abrol took one wicket each from Paradise XI. For his match winning knock, Sanjay Bagga was adjudged man of the match. For his all round performance throughout the tournament, Guru Partap was declared man of the series. He also got best bastman and best fielder trophies. The best bowler title went to Ajay Singh Manhas.
Meanwhile, AP Singh was declared best athlete for excelling in different field and track events. The volleyball title went to Legal Spikers. Medal winners of different events of athletic meet were also given away medals by the chief guest.
In the cricket final and valedictory function, Minister for Sports, R S Chib was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Medals were also presented by guest of honour, District and Session Judge, Jang Bahadur Singh and senior advocate, S S Lehar.
All the special invitees praised president of Bar Association of Jammu, BS Slathia and secretary, Vikram Sharma for the initiative. Earlier, Bar Association felicitated organising committee chairman, Ajay Abrol and chief organizer, Suresh Sharma as also other members of the committee for successful conduct of the event.
