Early Times Report
JAMMU , Mar 25 : In a press conference jointly addressed by President Dimpy Kohli and gen. secretary G.I Singh of Hindustan Shiv Sena they have expressed apprehensions about the Municipal Corporations and urban local bodies election which are going to be held in the month of April.
There are large number of discrepancies, irregulations and mistakes in the voters list. It is a matter of great concern since 2005 when last Municipal Elections were held till 2011 and 5% voters have been added in Jammu and 35% new voters added in Kashmir Valley. Large number of voters names either have been deleted or wrongly spelled more than two lac cards Electoral Photo Identity (EPICS) are lying with the Delhi N.I.C (GZb) but the J&K Govt. has not required funds to acquire the same. They said that recently 15 wards have been constituted in Srinagar and even a single ward not added in Jammu. Despite of fact that Jammu has more population area then Srinagar. Same is the case with committees out of 16committees 12 formed in Srinagar and 4 in Jammu. Many area like Sunjwan Bhatindi, Sector E,F &G of Sainik Colony are still not included in the Municipal yet. In this regard we have sent notice through our advocate to chief Electoral officer and by Commissioner Jammu, but no action has been taken by the concerned authorities. As per the Municipal act 10- A, Municipal Elections are ought to be held in rotation and for this Hindustan Shiv Sena has filled writ petition no. 368 before the High Court on 15/03/2012 for the strict enforcement of section 10-A of JMC Act 2000. Hindustan Shiv Sena totally opposed these Municipal and ULB's elections in haste without removing the discrepancies and irregularities. State Govt. wants these elections should be held immediately because they want to get central funds worth several crores which are blocked due to delay in holding of elections to the ULBs.
