Business School, Zoology Department advance in T20 cricket tourney | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 26: Department Zoology and The Business School had their say in today's first round matches winning the ties with handsome margins in the ongoing inter-department (T20) cricket tournament of University of Jammu (JU) on the campus, here today. In the first match of the day, The Business School registered a huge 119 runs win over Department of Education. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Business School set a big total of 192 runs for the loss of five wickets. Taresh and Yousaf were main contributors with 59 and 44 runs respectively while Kartik added 16 runs to the total. From Education, Ashok bagged two wickets, followed by Jagdeep and Tariq, who shared apiece each. Batting second, Department of Education bowled out of just 72 runs in 13.3 overs to lose the match by a big margin of 119 runs. Nayeem was top scorer with 33 runs while Aliq added 13. Tushar was most successful bowler with three wickets, followed by Kartik and Ankit, who shared two each. Meanwhile, in another first round tie, Department of Zoology made it four wickets win over Department of Environmental Sciences. Batting first, Environmental Sciences set a challenging target of 183\ runs losing seven wickets, which, in reply, Zoology chased on the second last delivery of their innings with four wickets in hand. Arvind and Sajad were main contributors to the total with 69 and 46 runs in their respective accounts while Dinesh added quick 12-ball 19 runs. From Zoology, Sunil bagged two wickets, followed by Anil and Ajaz, who shared one each. Later, Zoology overhauled the opponent total sparing one delivery of their innings in 19.5 overs for the loss of six wickets. Anil played fine innings of 61 runs while Aadil and Ajaz contributed 30 and 27 runs respectively. Pankaj and Ashish took two wickets each from Environmental Sciences. Indoor events start today Meanwhile, according to PTI Campus, the orgainsers of the inter-department competitions, the indoor events in men's section shall start tomorrow at Gymnasium Hall of the University of Jammu. |
