Jammu premier league 2012 PH-I concluded at DODA

DODA, Mar 26: The popular Jammu Premier League Ph-I culminated today at Doda Sports Stadium with a breathtaking final encounter between Combine Eleven, Bhaderwah and Bhalesha Eleven.
The tournament was conducted by District Youth Services and Sports Office, Doda and Army with the aim to encourage sports among the youth and also to identify budding cricket players from District Doda.
17 teams from the district participated in the Jammu Premier League Ph-I spanning over a period of 13 days.
Colonel AH Khan, Commanding Officer, 8 Rashtriya Rifles (MADRAS) was the Chief Guest on the occasion while as GN Balwan, Additional District Development Commissioner, Doda, was the guest of honour besides prominent Civil & Army dignitaries including Mohd Arif Rishu, Superintendent of Police, Lieutenant Colonel Navin Bendre, Officiating Commanding Officer, 10 Rashtriya Rifles (RAJPUT), Rafiq Bhatt, Divisional Forests Officer, Hamid Khan, Asst Commandant, 76 CRPF Bn and Tariq Hussain Malik, Sports activity Officer, Doda were also present on the occasion.
In the final match Bhalesha Eleven won the toss and choose to batted first, and scored 91 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target Combine Eleven, Bhaderwah proved their might by scoring 92 for 3 in just 11.5 overs, thereby lifting the winner's trophy. Both the finalist teams will represent Doda district in Ph-II of the JPL-2012 to be conducted in April 2012.
Firdous of Bhalesha Eleven was adjudged as Man of the Series for his splendid performance throughout the tournament while as Tahir Shapoo who scored quick fire 51 runs was adjudged as the Man of the Match and the awards for Best Bowler, Best Wicket Keeper & Best fielder were given to Shasir, Sameer Malik and Bilal Ahmed respectively
The people of Doda have whole heartedly appreciated the efforts of District Youth Services and Sports Office, Doda and Army in encouraging the youth thereby inculcating interest in sports.
