Radio Kashmir auditorium resonates with Lala Ded's poetry

JAMMU, Mar 26 - It was a historical function held in the auditorium of Radio Kashmir Srinagar in memory of the first poet of Kashmiri language and the famed philosopher saint Lala Ded (Lalleshwari).
The one day seminar was attended by a galaxy of intellectuals, writers, media persons and the authorities on history and tradition of Kashmir. According to the Programme Head of the station Smt Rukhsana Jabeen, this programme was one of the initiatives the station has taken to inspire our young generation to re-discover our glorious past and Lal Ded being the epitome of our language and literature needs to be researched and re-discovered. She announced that in addition to this one day prog-ramme, Radio Kashmir will be airing a weekly programme on Lal Ded's poetry and her philosophy on weekly basis continuously from 1st of April 2012.
The Programme Coordinator Satish Vimal while briefing about the importance of the Seminar said that Lala Ded and Nund Reshi award us with a unique identity and yet teach us the truth of humanity and universalism. During the dark phases of our history, these beacons will continue to show us the light and lead us to the path of illumination.
M H Zaffar read out his paper "The philosophy of Lal Ded", while as Prof Majruh Rashid presented his views on "Aesthetics in Lal Ded's poetry". Dr Rattan Lal Talashi spoke on the truths and myths about the life of Lal Ded. A brief debate followed the paper reading sessions. Famed singers Muneer Ahmad Mir and Qaisar Nizami sang the vakhs of Lal Ded and thrilled the audience. Later a poetic symposium was held in which eminent poets' recited vakhs and poems dedicated to Lal Ded.
Those who recited their poems included Ghulam Moh-ammad Ghamgeen, Rafeeq Raaz, Dr Aziz Hajni and Prof Naseem Shifai. Vetern polish researcher Philip who is undergoing research on Lal Ded also addressed the seminar. He termed this initiative as historic. The whole pro-gramme was conducted by well known anchor and broadcaster Ashfaq Lone.
