Jugal for promoting regional languages, cultural heritage | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 26: In order to promote dogri culture and languages, Information Department today organized a Dogri Kavi-Goshti at Kala Kendra Jammu in which prominent poets of Dogri participated. MLC Jugal Kishore Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof. Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha was the guest of honour. Those who recited their poems include Susheel Baigana, Dhian Singh Langeh, Vijaya Thakur, Kuldeep Kippi, Parduman Singh, N. D. Jamwal, Mohan Singh, Surjeet Hosh, Virender Kesar, Gianeshwar Sharma, Santosh Khajuria, Champa Sharma, Inderjit Kesar, Rattan Doshi, Jitender Udhampuri, Surinder Singh Manhas, Dr. Nirmal Vinod, D. K. Vaid, Satpal Mishra, Usha Bayas and Usha Kiran. While speaking on the occasion, Jugal Kishore appreciated the Information Department for organising such programmes which immensely help in promoting the Dogri language besides providing a platform to the budding poets and writers to exhibit their talent. He stressed the need for further intensifying such events which is imperative for preserving our rich cultural heritage. He hoped that the department will continue holding such programmes with same spirit and zeal in future. Prof. Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha highlighted the importance of organising such programes and said that people should encourage use of their regional dialects to preserve the same. Presenting welcome address, Joint Director Information Soujanya Sharma highlighted the activities of the department in promoting such programmes and said that these events are being held in every part of the state to promote culture and traditions of a particular region. He also read out his dogri poem on valediction. Among others, Deputy Directors Suram Chand Sharma, Pran Singh, & Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Photo Officer B. D. Sharma, other prominent intellectuals and cultural personalities attended the function. |
