Should roll no allotment on the basis of marks be banned? | | | Sumit Bhargav Rajouri, Mar 26: Commercialization of educational sector by private institutions has been termed as a grave issue by educational experts who have advised several steps to check the practices to make education a mean of money. But still the private educational institutions are using a lot of tactics to put them forward from others and to show off their superiority. Another issue of private educational institutions which should be discussed is allotment of roll numbers to students on the basis of marks obtained by them in their previous class. Different schools use different methods for allotment of roll numbers during a new session. Some schools allot roll numbers to students on first come first serve basis some allot roll numbers with alphabetical orders. But there are certain schools where management allots roll numbers to students on the basis of their performance in the previous class. But educational experts believe that allotment of roll numbers on these bases is quite controversial as it creates pressure on students who are already suffering due to burden of studies. When anyone asks such a students his/her roll number, the students feel ashamed to tell their back roll number which will indicate that he/she is not good at studies. Experts believe that concerned authorities should instruct all the private schools of state to allot roll numbers to students on other basis rather than on previous performance. Allotting a roll number on this basis is quite pressurizing as student who has been allotted a last roll number will feel embarrased. Thus in view of upgrading educational status roll numbers need to be allotted in a manner not to pressure minds of students.
