Speaker asks media not to report PDP's tumult on ERA, NURAM | PDP stages walk-out in protest against Speaker's remarks | | Bashir Assad Jammu, Mar 27 : It was for the first time during the ensuing budget session that there was no noise at the start of question Hour but House witnessed some uproarious scenes in the middle of the Question Hour when Speaker asked the media not to report opposition Peoples Democratic Party's protest on some issues related to ERA and NURAM. The trouble started when Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather had to face a series of supplementary question from the opposition on Javed Mustafa Mir's QD about the norms, specifications and mechanism prescribed for execution of works under ERA and NURAM. Opposition members alleged that norms were being violated when the non-state contractors sublet the contracts to locals without executing any document which leads to sub- standardization of works on one hand and on the other hand political intervention further compromises the quality of work. Though Javed Mir was supported by legislators cutting across party line, Finance Minister, however, could not satisfy the opposition due to which all PDP members were on legs to contest the government version. Speaker, however, asked media not to report PDP's uproar which hurt the opposition members who latter staged walk-out in protest against Speaker's remarks. " I assure you that no photograph will come in the press, aap ne iss House ko tamasha bana rakha hai" said Speaker who repeatedly asked the press not to report PDP's uproar. |
