BJP takes on Speaker on expelled members | | | Bashir Assad Jamnmu, Mar 27 : BJP Tuesday took strong exception to Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone's ruling that there were 11 members of the party in the house which the BJP contested saying that it has only four members and the rest 7 members have been expelled from the party. Trouble started when Speaker allotted time to the party's for discussion on grants on departments under Chief Minister on the basis of strength in the house and BJP was allotted 55 minutes. BJP MLA Jugal Kishore sought clarification as to how many minutes were allotted to each member on which Speaker said that each member has been allotted 5 minutes. Jugal, however, disputed the Speaker saying that there were only 4 members of BJP why 55 minutes have been allotted to the party. Speaker, however, stood by his decision saying that there were 11 members of BJP in the House. " to me there are 11 members of BJP in the House, I going by the directions of the Hon'blw High Court that has asked me to maintain status-quo till the final disposal of the case" Speaker said. On this BJP MLAs Jugal Kishore and Ashoke Khajuria registered their protest saying that Speaker cannot intervene in party affairs and the Party has expelled the seven members on charges of cross voting. " You cannot intervene into our party affairs, they have been expelled from the party" Jugal Kishore said adding that there was a conspiracy from the ruling coalition to use the seven expelled BJP members for their own interests. |
