Business School organises Career Development Workshop

Jammu, Mar 27: The Business School, University of Jammu, today organised one day Career Development Workshop under the “Leadership Connect Series”. The workshop was jointly conducted by  Prof. Sita Vanka, Professor of School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad and Dr. Forret Monica L, Director, DBA, Department of Managerial Studies, St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa, USA. The theme of the workshop focused on ‘Personal Branding and Networking Behaviours.’
Prof. Sita Vanka in her inter-active presentation emph-asized on the role of personal branding and the strategies to brand oneself. Elaborating on the same Prof. Vanka urged the students to make them selves sellable. She emphasized that to be employable, one has to present oneself as a resource worth generating and adding value.
Dr. Forret talked about Social Capital and the Impact of Networking Behaviours. Speaking on the concept of social capital as a source of competitive advantage she stressed that in present era of boundaryless career building, social capital through net-working is a key to success. Earlier, Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Students Placement, University of Jammu and Director, The Business School, formally welcomed the invited experts. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Neelu Rohmetra said that such workshops should be a regular feature in the direction of training students for better employability. She emph-asised that networking skills and self projection are the key ingredients for success.
She informed that the Leade-rship Connect Series was launched in the year 2010 as one of the initiatives of TBS at University of Jammu, with an objective to inculcate leadership and professional mindset amongst the stud-ents.
The session was co-ordinated by Dr Sameer Gupta, Dr. Rachna and Ms. Saloni. Prof. B C Sharma, Coordinator, MBA Prog-ramme, presided over the session. Prof. Sharma added to the discussion by emph-asizing that continuous inve-stment in one’s own self by rethinking, revisiting and updating is required to stay competitive. The workshop was attended by the stud-ents, research scholars and the faculty members of University of Jammu, Jammu.
