Minister's nephew stirs up Hornet's nest in Baramulla | | | Early Times Report BARAMULLA, Mar 27: The arrest of Gowhar Habib Dar the nephew of Javaid Ahmad Dar, minister of state for R&B has stirred up yet another Hornet's nest not only in Baramulla district, but throughout the Valley. Gowhar Habib Dar has an unenviable reputation in Rafiabad area. He is a known 'Goonda' in the area. On Saturday last, Dar followed two college girls, Kulsoom Nabi and Farhat Nabi, both sisters, on his motorcycle when they left for their home. He used lewd language against the two sisters even daring to spit on one of them in full public glare. The younger sister, Farhat Nabi was frightened by the behavior of the unruly youth, but her elder sister, Kulsoom Nabi told her not to worry. What came as a complete shocker for the two sisters is that Dar told them he had killed their brother Mohammad Yasin Mir whose body had been recovered from an under constriction sewage tank of a local health centre after twenty days. Police in Sopore said the youth has been arrested on the complaint of the two sisters who said he had abused them and even threatened to kill them. Gowhar Habib Dar is the nephew of Javaid Ahmad Dar, the minister of state for R&B. Even though it is not prudent to connect the minister's name with the behavior of his nephew as every individual is responsible for his/her behavior before the law of the land as equals. It must be ensured that without any fear or favour the state police completes the investigations not only in the unruly behavior of Gowhar Habib Dar, but also in the allegation of the two sisters that Dar had disclosed he had killed their brother. It is significant to recall that in 2010 also Javaid Ahmad Dar had landed himself in a media controversy when it was alleged the minister forced the diversion of Kingfisher Srinagar-Delhi flight to Jaipur to facilitate his landing there. A Kingfisher Airlines flight from Srinagar to Delhi on June 22, 2010 was diverted to Jaipur where 28 passengers, including Javaid Ahmad Dar and his family members were allegedly allowed to deplane. The move had come under attack from other passengers who said the flight was diverted just to facilitate the minister's trip to Ajmer. The airline on June 23, 2010 had flatly rejected the charge as "absolutely untrue" and said the flight was diverted on account of "VIP movement" at the Delhi airport and ATC congestion over it. When flight IT-353 approached Delhi, the pilot had announced there was congestion at the airport and he was running short of fuel. Some passengers though, claimed this was do neat the behest of J&K R&B and agriculture Minister Javaid Ahmad Dar, who was scheduled to visit Ajmer. Airline spokesperson Prakash Mirpuri said there were 180 passengers and eight crew on board. Of them, 12 passengers were booked to fly onwards with Kingfisher Airlines from Delhi to Jaipur. "Because... they were scheduled to fly with us, at their request they were allowed to de-plane at Jaipur...12 guests who were scheduled to travel by road from New Delhi to Kota too requested to be de-planed ...Three guests forming the VIP party also requested to be de-planed," Mirpuri had said. |
