CM's council commits blunder, forgets screening

early times report
JAMMU, Mar 28: What could be a nexus between the organizers and the monitoring agency-J&K State Sports Council that the state team was not put to mandatory screening before its participation in the ongoing 20th Senior and 11th Sub Junior National Wushu Championships at MA Stadium, here today. Headed by none other than the but the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah as president, the State Sports Council has committed blunder by not going through the genuineness of the state contingent both in junior and senior categories thus giving a room to the organizers to manipulate things. "The screening is a mandatory process before final selection of the state teams for participation at the national level, especially for those games which are affiliated with the State Sports Council," a retired senior officer of the Council told . In fact, screening helps in checking impersonation and manipulation in teams because the process is a foolproof system adopted by the Sports Council.
When contact chairman of J&K Wushu Association, Inpsector General of Police (Traffic), Hemant Lohia said, "Screening has been done by the State Sports Council well in time". Taking advantage of the little check by the autonomous sports body of Sports Council of which Sports Minister, R S Chib is vice-president, the organizers have allegedly used the services of some outsiders to play for J&K in senior men and women teams, who claim to be state subjects of the J&K. "We have involved some senior players, but they are only for the purpose of guiding our state boys and girls. No outsider player is playing for J&K", said the Association Chairman. However, on being contacted Sports Officer of the State Sports Council candidly admitted that no such process has taken place. "It is true that screening has not done by the Sports Council," provincial head of the Sports Council, Sports Officer, Rajan Sharma disclosed.
