Land associated to religious place in Rainawaari sold illegally | | | ET Report JAMMU, Mar 28: The encroachment of Hindu shrines and temples is going on unabated and despite assurance from government and concerned quarters has failed to take action against illegal trespassers and land grabbers. According to sources land of famous shrine of Vaital Bhairav at Motiyar Rainawaari Srinagar has been encroached by some land mafia. Sources said that a century old large tree existing on the land too has been cut without seeking proper permission from the forest authorities. "It was only after the matter was brought by some devotees to the notice of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar that the felling of trees was halted on the land and wood also was confiscated. Meanwhile Panun Kashmir activists while expressing displeasure and anguish over the act warned that the entire KP community will come on the streets if the sale deed is not declared null and void by the government. They said that Vaitaal Bhairav is a sacred religious shrine of the Hindus where hundreds of devotees used to visit and pay their obeisance. By selling this land and cutting of age old trees has hurt the sentiments of Hindus and demand action against the defaulters. The matter has also been brought to the notice of the Chief Minister. According to sources in another glaring example of trespass in Pampore town the Mandir Property (first base camp of Amarnath Yatri) has been encroached where illegal construction is going on. According to sources the land of Shamshaan Ghat at Pampore too has also been encroached. |
