Three theater veterans honored

Jammu, Mar 28: In continuation of its efforts to preserve and promote 'Kashmiri Theatre' and keep the passion for theatre performances alive, 'Bhoorang Foundation Jammu' treaded one more step by honouring three veterans for their immense and invaluable contribution in this field throughout their life.
In connection with World Theatre Celebrations it was day and occasion this literary cum cultural organisation dedicated to recalling their contribution in theatre and producing as well as acting in plays in retrospect, followed by felicitating them with what could be seen as respectful yet most impressive way of bestowing recognition for their works. Those who were felicitated in a simple yet impressive function organized at KL Saigal Hall of Cultural Academy included renowned broadcaster and theatre personality PL Razdan, senior most and acclaimed artists who have made rich and meaningful contribution in enriching the field through acting- Abdul Majid Bhat and Bal Krishan Koul.
Renowned scholar and literary personality Dr ND Jamwal and Director Doordarshan Jammu Shabir Mujahid were guests of honour in the function today who along with yet another theatre personality of the state and steering force behind this organization Makhan Lal Saraf felicitated these veterans jointly by bestowing them with citations, shawls and a memento . Dr ND Jamwal speaking on this occasion congratulated the organizers and described the gesture as one more benchmark in their tireless efforts to rejuvenate the zeal and enthusiasm among art and theatre lovers and to keep alive the spirits of those associated with the field. He called for continuance of such relentless efforts which he said was need of the hour in the wake of the fact that youth in generals and young artists in particular were distancing themselves from real culture and literary pursuits which are essential for identity and existence of the communities.
Shabir Mujahid stressed the need for enriching the content of the scripts which he said was fast receding. He also underlined the need for generating interest of artists in Theatre and strengthening the art field as commercialization and big money in TV productions was alluring the talented people towards that medium. Earlier Makhan Lal Saraf threw light on the programmes and functional aspects of Bhoorang Foundation which he said came into existence with a humble beginning and is trying to keep the flame of stage acting lit among the artists .
Popular and renowned TV personality Ayash Arif set the atmosphere of the programme in an impressive literary manner by first speaking briefly about Bhoorang Foundation, its purpose and objective of bring into existence which was followed by introductory remarks loaded with literary expressions in what could be seen as most dignified acknowledgement of the contributions of the three veterans this organization has chosen this year for bestowing honour.
