CB produces Challan against Revenue Official and Pvt person

JAMMU, Mar 28: The Crime Branch (CB) Jammu has produced challan against the accused persons including the then Assistant Collector Land Acquisition, PWD, Jammu in a case of cheating and misappropriation before the Court of Spl. Judge, Anti Corruption, Jammu today
The Crime Branch has produced challan in Case FIR No.31/1996 u/s 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 403, 120-B/RPC read with section 5(2) P.C Act Svt. 2006 P/S Crime Branch, Jammu against the accused persons namely Chuni Lal S/o Thussu R/o Main Chowk Mishriwala, Jammu (now expired) and Jagtar Singh S/o Jhanda Singh R/o Jeevan Nagar, Jammu at present H.No.49 Sector 6 Channi, Jammu the then Assistant Collector Land Acquisition, PWD, Jammu.
Brief facts of the case are that a complaint was received in Crime Branch, Jammu wherein the complainants namely Gian Chand S/o Hari Chand R/o Nowabad, Jammu had alleged that land measuring 7 Kanal, 7 Marla and 7 Sarsais situated at villages Nowabad and Gole comprising different khasra numbers was under the process of acquisition for the construction of road link from Bhagwati Nagar to Talab Tillo, Jammu. The Assistant Collector Land Acquisition, PWD, Jammu namely Sardar Jagtar Singh passed an award dated 31.08.1995 for a sum of Rs.18,32,567.54 payable to the land owners and occupants mentioned in the award. The land subject matter of the acquisition belonged to the complainant and some other inhabitants of the locality. One Chuni Lal S/o Thussu R/o Mishriwala, Jammu prepared 14 false and forged Power of Attorneys for the purpose of receiving compensation on behalf of the claimants and after hatching criminal conspiracy with Assistant Collector Land Acquisition, PWD, Jammu S. Jagtar Singh succeeded to withdraw the compensation amounting to Rs.18,32,568.54. Both the accused persons in a well planned manner prepared false and forged Power of Attorneys and by using the same received compensation on behalf of the claimants.
On this, the instant case was registered and during the course of investigation the I.O seized final award, photostat copies of power of attorneys & acquittance roll from the office of assistant collector land acquisition (pwd), jammu, power of attorneys of three persons namely Partap Chand S/o Chanda, Sadhu Ram S/o Bhagu and Des Raj S/o Nandu from the court of Law, Cheques from J&K Bank Branch Shalamar Road, Jammu and Counterfoils of Cheques from the office of Assistant Collector Land Acquisition (PWD) Jammu. From the investigation conducted by Crime Branch, Jammu the above mentioned offences have been established against the accused persons challaned in the court of law for judicial determination. Next date of hearing in the case is fixed on 30.4.2012.
