Basohli painting camp concludes | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 29: Laying emphasis on preservation of rare Basohli art form, Minister for Tourism and culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora today assured the artist community that his ministry would sit and chalk out a comprehensive strategy for promotion and propagation of the art. Promising that Basohli art would be accorded priority by the government, the Minister said that efforts would be made to hold Basohli exhibition cum sale events at Delhi so as to ensure display and saleability of works of this art form. Echoing similar sentiments, minister of state for tourism and culture, Nasir Aslam Wani said that the art form is very delicate and needs to be preserved. The 3-Day event, which began here on Tuesday, culminated today with distribution of participation certificates among the participating artists. Those who participated in the event included Dharampal Verma, Shakeel Ahmad Rana, Kabeer Maharana, Sona Kapoor, Dheeraj Kapoor, Pooja, Arun Dogra, Rajini Bala, Kanchan Bloeria and Savita Sharma. The event was supervised by Academy's exhibition officer, Parvez Akhter while Academy's junior staff artist, Anil Tickoo did moderation for the event. Also present on the occasion were Academy's additional secretaries, Savita Bakshi, Shamima Akther and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn. |
