EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, Mar 29: In a major revelation made by Power Development Depar-tment (PDD) Rajouri, India's largest telecom service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Rajouri has to pay pending power dues of nearly about Rs 1 crore. Of this one crore rupees, Rs 24 lakh is pending for sub-division Rajouri while Rs 76 lakh for rest of the district. Even after several reminders and notices served by PDD, BSNL Rajouri authorities paid no attention and finally PDD has disconnected power supply to a large number of company's mobile towers and also to the main Exchange of company.
According to sources and information provided by AEE Headquarters of Power Development Department, Razdan, BSNL Rajouri has to pay a large power bill which is pending for a long period of time and this pending bill is totally about Rs one crore. Nearly about Rs 24 lakh are pending for Sub-division Rajouri which include the area of main city, Jawahar Nagar and some peripheral areas. Sources and AEE HQ also informed that even after serving several notices and reminders, there was no positive response from the side of BSNL. After such a dull response by BSNL authorities, PDD finally decided to take stern action and has today disconnected power supply to a number of BSNL mobile towers including of city and district headquarter and power supply to district main Exchange of BSNL has also been disconnected thereby affecting the services of company and slapping problems to customers.
Sources also revealed that such a stern action by Power Development Department has been taken as a result of dull response by BSNL authorities and also after strict instructions by higher departmental authorities and govt to clear pending power dues and to increase the output of power tariff obtained from customers.
When Early Times contacted Executive Engineer PDD Rajouri, Maqbool Hussain, he said that we have disconnected power supply to a number of mobile towers of
BSNL and power supply to main Exchange of BSNL located in district headquarter has also been snapped.
He also said that BSNL Rajouri has to pay huge power dues to PDD which is pending for the past some time and now we have decided to gear up to get this pending tariff from BSNL.
He further said that we are also trying to prevent major problems to be faced by the customers due to disconnection of power supply to BSNL and for this we are going to hold a meeting with BSNL officials so as to resolve this issue but if BSNL authorities will not relent then we can take more stern action in near future.
