3000 missing Industrial units shock people | JK's 2G scam | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 29: Reports about more than three thousand missing industrial units have shocked the concerned quarters. Shockingly the reports have not been investigated by the authorities for unknown reasons. The Industries Minister, SS Salathia admitted on the floor of the house on March 10 that around 3500 units were untraceable in the state. The Minister quoted All India Census of Industrial Units in his written statement in the Legislative assembly. Even after the Minister's admission no action was taken. Now pressure seems building on the Industries Department for an internal probe. The Department, sources said intends to probe how much subsidy was availed by the missing units and who were the officers who cleared the cases. Sources equaled the fraud to2G scam. Pertinent to mention the subsidy in certain cases runs into lakhs of rupees. The subsidy cases are cleared by the Department. However, the concerned General Manager has to establish existence of the unit and its registration. While demand for stern action against the erring officials and the missing unite holders is growing with every passing day, a senior Vigilance Officer preferring anonymity said the organization has not received any direction for conducting a probe into the alleged scam. |
