Rs 209.96 lakhs spent on travel expenses by ministers and others in last 2 yrs
CM claimed no TA/DA in last two years

jammu, Mar 29: The council of Ministers and chairmen of various boards and advisors to CM Omar Abdullah have spent 209.96 lakhs on travel expenses in the last two years, said govt today.
According to the records tabled in the state assembly, a sum of Rs 104.28 lakhs and Rs 105.68 lakhs were spent respectively in 2011-12 and 2010-2011 on the travel expenses of council of ministers, advisors and chairmen of various boards in the last two years".
The deputy Chief Minister and few senior ministers have spent more than 6 lakhs in one year on travel expenses. Interestingly, no TA/DA has been claimed by the Chief Minister during the same period.
According to the records 14.91 lakhs were spent by deputy chief minister on his travel expenses during the last two years. The tourism minister spent 7.10 lakhs in 2010-11 and 6.62 lakhs in 2011-12 on travel expenses while Finance Minister spent 3.07 and 3.49 lakhs during the same period.
Forest, Environment and ecology Minister 6.52 and 2.62 lakhs on travel expenses. Minister of Health, Horticulture and Floriculture spent 7.01 and 6.7 lakhs in 2010-11 and 2011-12 respectively. Minister for technical education, youth services, sports and Medical education have spent 11.94 lakhs on travel expenses during the same period.
The Revenue and Relief Minister spent 2.95 lakhs and 3.86 lakhs in 2010-11 and 2011-12, Industries and Commerce Minister spent 3.28 in 2010-11 and 3.30 lakhs on 2011-12, Minister for Agriculture production spent 6.52 lakhs and 4.06 lakhs, Animal Husbandry ,science and technology minister spent 4.25 lakhs and 4.03 lakhs respectively on travel expenses.
When it comes to spending money on travel the junior ministers in the Omar Abdullah govt are not too far away. Minister of state cooperatives, Printing and stationary and elections have spent 6.10 and 5.61 lakhs during the last two years respectively. Minister of state R&B, Housing and Urban development, PHE, Tourism and Revenue and Relief have also spent 5.97 lakhs in 2010-11 and 7.56 lakhs in 2011-12 respectively. Minister of state for Forest, Environment and ecology, Transport, consumer affairs have spent 4.34 lakhs and 6.89 lakhs during the same period.
According to the official records vice chairman J&K state Advisory board for Development of Pahari speaking people spent 1.76 lakhs and 3.90 lakhs in 2010-11 and 2011-12 respectively. Similarly vice chairman J&K State Advisory board for development of Gujjars and Bakerwals has spent 2.96 lakhs an 3.03 lakhs on travel expenses during 2010-11 and 2011-12 respectively.
