Armed police ADG directed to appear in court | | | early times report JAMMU, Mar 30: In a petition challenging the selection of cops, Justice J P Singh of high court today directed armed police ADGP K Rajendra to appear in court to explain his position. The court directive came in a petition filed by Pradeep Kumar, challenging the selection of cops in executive police on the ground that the authorities concerned had not measured his height properly as a result of which he was not selected. The court said the ADGP woul be at liberty to measure the petitioner's height again and report about his exact height. The petitioner submitted that his height was more than 5' 11" but the respondents had erroneously indicated it to be 5' 7½". Justice Singh observed that to find out as to whether there was merit in the petitioner's contention, he was measured by the medical officer, high court complex Jammu, who certified his height as 179 cms (5' 11"). The court said the affidavit filed by Rajendra to contest the petitioner's claim for selection and appointment, indicating him to have measured 5' 7½" securing only 10 marks for his height, prima facie, appeared to be a false defence and issued him notice to appear in the court to explain his position. He shall be at liberty to measure the petitioner's height again and report about his exact height, the court directed. |
