| Cong BJP activists from valley oppose AFSPA revocation | | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 30: There is no unanimity on the National Conference and people democratic party demand on revocation of the Armed forces special powers act (AFSPA) AND WITHDRAWAL OF SECURITY FORCES FROM THE STATE among the national political parties. According to the source the party activists of the Bhartiya Janta Party, Janta Party as well as other national parties are expressing apprehensions that the revocation of ASFSPA will give a fresh lease of life to militancy in the state in general and the Kashmir valley in particular. Sources said that the activists of the Congress and BJP especially from the valley and militancy infested areas have conveyed this to their party high commands in New Delhi. The leaders of these parties have apprised their respective bosses in New Delhi That any compromise with NC-PDP on the issue of revocation of AFSPA will prove dangerous for the entire state and the country in whole The sources said that a group of congress activists who called there party leaders in New Delhi and apprised them of the dangerous game plan of APSPA revocation. They informed the senior party men that militancy is down but not out in the valley and various terrorist organizations are regrouping themselves to start 1989-90 type activities again. They have told their senior party men to take a principled stand on the revocation of the AFSPA as any decision in haste will prove to be a Himalayan blunder. Sources said that a congress leader from south Kashmir who had contested the 2008 assembly elections has informed the party high command that about 100 militants are active in the erstwhile twin districts of Anantnag and Pulwama IN South Kashmir. Out of them 18 militants are active in -Home Shalibug constituency while equal number is in Noorabad and Shopian constituencies. Sources said congress leader has informed the party high command that the moment security forces are withdrawn from the valley the terrorists will intensify their activities and also bring some youth under their fold. They have also apprised their party leaders of the recent statements made by Hizbul Mujahedeen supremo Syed Sallah-ud-din who has asked his cadres to intensify the armed struggle. Sources said that hardliner Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has also given the call of intensifying the so called armed struggle in Kashmir and any lenient view taken by the government will give afresh lease of life to the armed struggle in Kashmir The same feelings are also conveyed by BJP leaders in the valley to their senior party leaders in New Delhi. They informed the Party high command to prevail upon the UPA government not to take any decision on revocation of AFSPA keeping in view its serious repercussions |
