Discrimination with Jammu, allege PP, BJP, JSM MLAs, stage walkout | Recruitment in J&K Bank | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 30: Proceedings during the question hour remained under din and clamour for some time as the Jammu based political parties once gain joined the chorus and raised the issue of discrimination in the Assembly today over the issue of recruitment in J&K Bank. The parties in opposition minus PDP got united over what they alleged as brazen discrimination with people of Jammu alleging that Jammu region has been given negligible share as compared to Kashmir region which has bagged a major share as in terms of the number of selected candidates. The MLAs of all these parties later staged walkout over the issue. The matter was raised in the Legislative Assembly first by the Panthers Party legislators led by Harsh Dev who echoed concern over what he termed as brazen discrimination while he cited the figures and said these speak for themselves and no proof was required to substantiate this allegation. As the fiery legislator raked up the issue loudly, he was soon joined by Balwant Singh Mankotia and others including the legislators of BJP, who have been voicing concern and expressing resentment over the discrimination meted out to Jammu on a host of other issues. In addition to the two parties, the sole MLA of Jammu State Morcha Ashwani Kumar too joined the loud and noisy slogans in the House over this issue. The four BJP legislators led by Jugal Kishore also raised pitch over the issue and supported Panthers Party MLAs while they trooped towards the well of the House. The agitating MLAs stood for some time seeking attention of government . The MLAs continued with shouts and sloganeering and tried to disrupt the proceedings during the question hour. Uproarious scenes continued for some time even as the Speaker tried to pacify them but there was no response from the government over the allegations. Harsh Dev Singh raised the issue of appointments in Jammu and Kashmir Bank amid uproar. He said out of 1600 advertised posts in Jammu and Kashmir Bank, 1300 were selected from the Kashmir division. "The Jammu region is being ignored and facing discrimination since years," he added. He however, demanded investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather on behalf of the Government replied that the bank is an autonomous body and it cannot be discussed in the House. Not satisfied with the reply, the JKNPP backed by BJP and JSM legislators created noisy scenes in the House amid anti-government slogans, they staged walkout. |
