BSNL landline, broadband connections to CM's residence snapped in Srinagar | | | early times report Srinagar, Mar 30: Landline and broadband connections to more than 1200 BSNL subscribers including the state chief minister's residence on the high security Gupkar Road area in Srinagar was snapped Friday due to unauthorized road digging by a R&B contractor. Those facing the disruption in landline and broadband connectivity include the official residences of the state chief minister, Omar Abdullah, his father and union minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the headquarters of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the headquarters of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), the residence of the inspector general of police (Kashmir) and others situated on the high security Gupkar Road area. "The road digging by using a JCB earth mover has interrupted the telecom services to 1200 BSNL subscribers in Gupkar Road area and this digging has taken place without informing us.This has put the BSNL to great loss which is being worked out. The company has started the necessary restoration work, but the damaged cable will take at least three more days to be fully restored," a BSNL official said in Srinagar.
