| Wushu Association skips screening of teams | | Council to seek explanation | | early times report JAMMU, Mar 31- For not paying heed to the laid down procedure, the Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir will be asked to explain why the screening of the teams was not done before fielding the contingent for the just concluded sub-junior and senior championships, here. The monitoring agency of State Sports Council found itself in an awkward situation when print media highlighted that state Wushu teams took part in the recently held championships had not faced the screening test, which is a mandatory process before team's participation in any national level event. "I have come to know it through print media only, so we will seek an explanation from the Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir as to how the mandatory process (screening of teams) was not followed," said Joint Secretary of the State Sports Council, Siddharth Sharma. Furthermore, it has been reliably learned that the Wushu teams had not even undergone official coaching camp prior to their participation in the nationals. Important to mention here that the screening of teams through a proper committee nominated from and among the members of the State Sports Council helps check frauds in manipulations in the selections and participation at the national level. "With the help of photographs and particulars of the participants on a specially designed screening form, Sports Council is able to check genuineness of a participant by comparing the actual certificates obtained with entries in the form at the time of seeking benefits under SRO 349 and 369 (sports quota)," a retired officer of the Sports Council told |
