| Upper age limit be 40 years for contractual employees : Taj | | | Jammu, January 24 The government is actively considering to extend upper age limit upto 40 years for in service employees who are working on contractual and adhoc basis. This was stated by the Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din in the Legislative Council. He was replying the discussion on the subject “filling of vacancies on contractual basis instead of regular appointments and delay in filling of the vacancies by the government and concerned agencies”. Mr. Taj said that till date out of 31648 total vacancies in the state, 23215 have been referred to recruiting agencies. He said while engaging unemployed educated youths on adhoc and contractual basis government at one hand provided temporary jobs to them and on the other ensured manning of vital institutions, but rules and procedure for permanent and regular appointments have to be observed while making such appointments. Earlier Prof. Bhim Singh initiated the discussion and demanded a policy for absorption of adhoc and contractual appointments. Other Members who took part in discussion included Mr. A.G.Vakil, Mr. Ashok Sharma, Mr. G.N.Lone, Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Mrs. Farida Mir, Mr. A.R.Tukroo, Mr. M.S.Panditpuri, Mr. Sayed Basharat Bukhari and Miss Sakina Ittoo. All Members demanded a clear cut policy of regularizing contractual/adhoc and early recruitment procedure.
