| CEO transferred for acting over complaint of PDP leader | | Political victimization! | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 31: In the latest case of alleged political victimization, state government transferred Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kulgam for allegedly heeding to complaint of Peoples Democratic Party leader and former minister Abdul Aziz Zargar. Sources said that Zargar had approached the said CEO for admission of some students of Gujjar community hailing from a far-flung area of Kulgam. Sources said that the former minister and senior PDP leader Abdul Aziz Zargar had brought the issue of denial of admission to four Gujjar students by the principal of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Damhal Hanjiora to the notice of CEO. They maintained that the CEO after receiving the complaint that four students belonging to poor Gujjar families of village Nandimarg had been denied admission by principal of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Damhal Hanjiora, took up the issue with the concerned principal and ensured that the students are admitted since it was the only nearest school to them. Sources further said that the same evening, CEO received an angry call from an NC cabinet minister. They added that the minister abused the CEO profusely and calling him a PDP agent, accused him of propagating cases of PDP workers. The said minister called the CEO mentally bankrupt and nuisance. Two days after this incident, some NC workers allegedly staged a protest demonstration against the CEO. Sources said that the NC workers accused the CEO of being corrupt and inefficient. They added that the tape of this protest was repeatedly aired by the local TV channels and as a result of this; government transferred the CEO back to Jammu. "We fail to understand, why CEO Sahib was victimized. He was a good man. He used to help poor students in getting admissions. He has been victimized," said a local over phone. |
