CM exhibits separatism in avoiding Hari Singh function | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 31: Chief minister Omar Abdullah by not attending the function on unveiling of statue of late Maharaja Hari Singh has only publicly exhibited the DNA of NC: Separatism. Late Hari Singh was not only the last ruler of State but the once who signed the 'Instrument of Accession' there by giving NC the opportunity to rule the State, thus allowing NC to rule the State. Thus morally and politically Omar should have been part of this occasion more so when his close aide is from the same caste to which Dogra ruler belonged. After late maharaja Partap Singh, Maharaja Hari Singh was the most reformist, visionary head beloved not in Jammu but in Kashmir province. He was the one who advocated reforms in education, made people -more so Kashmiris- to attend schools, but even gave them scholarship also. He is the one who developed, Pahalgam, Gulmarg and even Boulevard along Dal and brought them to tourist map, which even till date are the prime tourist destinations even after 64-yr. The genesis of Omar's absence lies in body politics of NC. NC founder, also called 'Sher-e-Kashmir' late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah deliberately made Hari Singh a demon to the Kashmiri people for his own political opportunism. Sheikh Abdullah, which enjoyed more freedom during Maharaja's time than after Independence, was facing stiff opposition from Muslim Conference headed by Chowdhary Ghulam Abbas. He was growing in political stature and was having huge following in Jammu region and also in Kashmir, including PoK. Sheikh, shrewd politician, knew he could not match the political stature of Ghulam Abbas, deliberately made Hari Singh a demon by projecting him as anti-Kashmiri and thus painting the entire Dogra community-the people of Jammu region- in one stroke. He did this to consolidate his vote bank in Valley as his attempts in moving out of Banihal tunnel politically were not giving him results. The former chief minister for his narrow, parochical political gains thus showed the seeds of religion and regional separatism. Former deputy Chief minister and senior PDP leader Muzzafar Hussain Beigh had publicly said that Kashmiri has suffered because of the opportunistic politics of NC as they brainwashed ordinary Kashmiri against India and Jammu. Omar, who holds his grandfather in more higher esteem than his father, by his absence is just following this separatist politics. His deliberate absence would only send the political singal of regional divide much to the benefit of NC, though probably last time. |
